#3 Suggest volunteering to others

The government’s annual Community Life Survey consistently shows that one of the main reasons people do not volunteer is that no one asked them to. This #shoutvolunteering ask is about addressing this and suggesting to someone that they consider volunteering.

This ask is NOT about persuading others to volunteer as any volunteering must be done voluntarily through a person’s free choice. However, just by asking them to consider volunteering may plant a seed for them to decide later they want to do it.

Please could you ask someone who does not volunteer, any or all of the following or something similar you feel is appropriate:

• Have you considered doing volunteering previously?

• If you were to do volunteering, what sort of activity would you do?

• Are there particular causes or charities you would like to support?
